A common complaint we hear from our users is that the WordPress’ post editor lacks basic spell check. For this reason, many users resort to using another word processing tool and once they’ve completed their writing, they copy and paste the finished product into WordPress.
And then it happens: that nicely laid out, and oh so meticulously formatted blog post goes all wonky and you’re left with a formatting nightmare!
“ughh! There’s got to be a better way!?”
Well, it just so happens, that we’ve got a solution! In this article we’ll show you how to check grammar and spelling mistakes directly from the WordPress post editor.
It would be sin to call Grammarly just a spell check tool because it’s oh so much more. Grammarly is, as they say, “Your writing at it’s best.”
Grammarly is a free browser extension that allows you to correct, not just your spelling, but writing errors of all sorts. It lives in your browser, which means that it’s not just another WordPress plugin to slow down your site. It’s a browser extension so no matter if your writing blog posts, emails or social media posts, Grammarly is there to make you a better writer.
Getting started with Grammarly couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is head over to grammarly.com and sign up for a free account. You’ll then download the browser extension and you’re ready to start writing.
As I said before, it works anywhere there are words to be written online. But for the purposes of this article, we’re just intersted in using it to provide a better writing experiance within the WordPress post editor.
In the screenshot above, you’ll see that Grammarly automatically starts showing suggestions as we write. Words and phrases underlined in red mean Grammarly has a suggestion. Simply hovering over the text allows you to easily correct spelling mistakes, or fix some other form of writing error that Grammarly has identified.
Writing within the WordPress editor could not be easier and with Grammarly engaged in your browser, you’ll see spelling, grammar and other writing suggestions in real time!
So, what are you waiting for? It’s Free, it’s not a plugin to slow down your site, and it works everywhere you write online!
So, ya, this is where you leave us. Don’t worry, you can thank us later!
